The event
The digital learning platform textil trainer provides open and low-threshold access to basic textile knowledge. Interested parties can register free of charge on the learning platform, which is subsidised by the ESF and SAB, and start the online courses immediately. Companies use the platform for free training for career changers and future employees to make it easier for them to get started. The content is being developed by Chemnitz University of Technology and Chemmedia AG in close cooperation with regional textile companies.
The major, common goal is to provide a sustainable supply of skilled labour in the textile industry. The platform now offers 40 courses covering all aspects of the textile chain. The topics range from textile raw materials and textile surface formation to meta-courses that focus on circular design strategies or the topic of textile labelling, for example. Over the next few years, further courses on historical textile knowledge and sustainability topics will be developed by a team of six. 4000 registered users are already learning with textil trainer. Users can already complete selected courses in English and the entire course portfolio will be translated into English by 2027.
